Mebac®
Surfaced Steel Z-Treads is a staircase
system that uses a single piece of 3/16 carbon
steel plate to form 6-7 risers, treads and stringer
attachment brackets with no welds. Z-Treads
provide a fast, economical way to design and
construct a steel staircase with built-in, long-term
slip-resistance that is durable, low maintenance
and strong, with a superior coefficient of friction
under wet or dry conditions. The simplicity and
versatility of Z-Treads allows fast, easy field
erection, saving time and money. |

and OSHA standard loading requirements and
exceed Mil C-81346A, 4.7.4 fire resistance

ALUMINUM
MEBAC® ON HOT DIP GALVANIZED CARBON STEEL
|
Formed
Z-Treads shall be in accordance with our standard Mebac®
Z-Tread profile. The steel substrate shall meet
the minimum requirements of ASTM A-1011, and shall have a thickness
of 3/16. The substrate shall be hot dip
galvanized per ASTM A-123 after fabrication and prior to the
application of Mebac®. The stepping surface of the
tread shall be coated with Aluminum Mebac® #1. Uniformly
dispersed aluminum oxide grit particles shall be encap-
sulated in a metal matrix of metal, bonded to the substrate
by an electricarc spray process. The stepping surface
shall have grit coverage that is uniform and free from areas
of minimal or no dirt to ensure anti-slip performance.
